Raritan Unveils Service Management Products and Architecture

Through a comprehensive dashboard accessed using virtually any Internet browser, Raritan's new CC-NOC appliance provides current information on network and systems performance, hardware and software assets, as well as security vulnerabilities.  The multi-function appliance addresses the key IT infrastructure and security management needs of mid-market companies, helping them to improve service levels and gain staff efficiencies.  At the same time, CC-NOC is less expensive than typical enterprise solutions and is simple to install and operate.

"Raritan is the first company to integrate IT monitoring and management capabilities with instant, remote access to IT equipment through KVM- (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) and serial-over-IP solutions," said Sev Onyshkevych, Raritan's Marketing Vice President.  "IT organizations can now pinpoint potential problems and fix them more quickly, easily and cost effectively.  For example, when CC-NOC sends an alert notification it includes a link to the problem device.  The link can be used by a KVM- or serial-over-IP solution to securely access and facilitate repair of the target equipment from anywhere.  This capability will be especially useful for our customers that operate CC-NOC in conjunction with Raritan's centralized access system, CommandCenter Secure Gateway."

CC-NOC, like CommandCenter Secure Gateway, is an element within Raritan's CommandCenter Service Management Architecture.  This architecture -- which embraces open standards -- is also designed to integrate with third-party management systems, such as HP OpenView, IBM® Tivoli® and CA™ Unicenter®.

Sanjay Motwani, Country Manager, Raritan India said, "This is a very exciting time for Raritan.  With the introduction of our Service Management solutions, we will be the first to combine the power of network, systems and proactive security management with secure, remote in-band and out-of-band access, helping customers identify problems before they affect service levels and fix them without leaving their chairs".

According to industry research firm Enterprise Management Associates (EMA), service management for mid-market businesses has been under served by the IT management industry.  "Most solutions are either too costly, too hard to deploy, simply under powered, or all three," said Dennis Drogseth, Vice President, EMA .  "Raritan's CommandCenter Service Management Architecture and its combination of service management capabilities with out-of-band and in-band remote access – are both unique and valuable.  Through its evolving portfolio, Raritan promises to deliver a mix of ease and sophistication tailored to IT shops with limited resources.  With Raritan, companies can step up to best practices for service management without getting buried in complexity and non-relevant detail."

The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) chose CC-NOC to manage its technology lab in Colorado Springs, Colo.  "CC-NOC is helping us simplify the complexity of managing a lab with more than 200 pieces of equipment from more than 40 vendors -- and with new equipment being added all the time," said Rick Bauer, technology director at SNIA.  "Bravo to Raritan.  Their new appliance is simple to install and use.  It provides all the right tools to help us improve service uptime, improve security and reduce IT repair costs -- and we didn't have to stress our IT staff with a big learning curve that larger tools require."
